Grand Theft Auto III is one of the most influential games in the open-world genre and a pivotal release in the Grand Theft Auto series. Developed by Rockstar North (formerly DMA Design) and released in 2001, it was the first 3D installment of the GTA series and introduced a whole new way to experience video games.
